Four-Point Contact Ball Bearings

As a hallmark of precision engineering within the Schaeffler Group, FAG Four-Point Contact Ball Bearings are designed to excel in applications requiring compact design, high axial load capacity, and seamless bidirectional operation. Combining the efficiency of ball bearings with the robustness of angular contact designs, these bearings are pivotal in industries such as robotics, renewable energy, and heavy machinery. This guide delves into FAG’s four-point contact ball bearing portfolio, showcasing technical specifications, material innovations, and tailored solutions to optimize performance in the most demanding environments.

FAG four-point contact ball bearings are single-row angular contact ball bearings designed to support axial loads in two directions. Their construction includes a solid outer ring, a separable inner ring (consisting of two half rings), and balls with brass or polyamide cages. The two halves of the inner ring are matched to a specific bearing and are not interchangeable with other bearings of the same size. High load-bearing capacity: Four-point contact ball bearings have high axial load-bearing capacity and can withstand large bidirectional axial loads and small radial loads. This design provides high load-bearing capacity due to its raceway design with high ribs and a contact angle of 35°. Compact design: Compared with double-row designs, four-point contact ball bearings require significantly less space in the axial direction. This compact design makes it very useful in applications that require high load-bearing capacity. Split design: This bearing is split, that is, the outer ring with the ball and cage assembly can be installed separately from the two inner ring halves, which helps with installation and maintenance convenience. High speed and smooth operation: Four-point contact ball bearings allow high speeds and run smoothly. Because their double half rings can be removed from the complete set of bearings and installed separately, they excel in applications requiring high speeds and high loads. ‌

FAG four-point contact ball bearings are often used in applications that require high load capacity and compact design, such as engines and other high-speed rotating equipment. Due to their ability to withstand large radial and axial loads at high speeds, they are widely used in automotive, aerospace and industrial machinery. ‌

In addition, FAG also offers high-performance bearings in the X-life series with longer service life and higher load capacity for applications requiring high reliability and long life. ‌

FAG Four-Point Contact Ball Bearings redefine versatility in load handling, offering a unique combination of compact design, bidirectional axial capacity, and long-term reliability. From enabling precise motion in surgical robots to withstanding corrosive offshore environments in wind turbines, these bearings are engineered to exceed performance expectations. Backed by Schaeffler’s global engineering support and smart technology integration, FAG empowers industries to achieve higher efficiency, reduced downtime, and sustainable growth.
