Angular contact ball bearings

SKF Explorer Series angular contact ball bearings are designed to maximize the effects of lubrication and minimize the effects of friction, wear and contamination. These bearings are able to provide an average of three times longer service life under poor lubrication and contamination conditions. They are particularly suitable for pump and compressor applications. Every component of the SKF Explorer Series angular contact ball bearings has been redesigned to improve temperature stability, reduce failures caused by contamination, and increase bearing service life under poor lubrication conditions. Angular contact ball bearings are designed to accommodate radial and axial loads acting simultaneously. The raceways of the inner and outer rings move relative to each other in the direction of the bearing axis. The axial load carrying capacity of the bearing increases with the increase in the contact angle (α), which is between a straight line connecting the contact points of the ball and raceway in the radial plane and another straight line perpendicular to the bearing axis. Common design types include single-row and double-row angular contact ball bearings and four-point contact ball bearings. Double-row angular contact ball bearings have better rigidity and can withstand overturning moments. They are particularly suitable for applications with high rigidity requirements, such as the front wheel hub of a car.

In addition, SKF also provides single-direction and double-direction angular contact thrust ball bearings for special applications such as machine tools.

SKF Angular Contact Ball Bearings are precision-engineered components designed to handle combined radial and axial loads in a single direction, making them indispensable in high-speed, high-accuracy applications. Characterized by a defined contact angle between the raceways and balls, these bearings excel in scenarios requiring rigid axial guidance, such as machine tool spindles, automotive systems, and robotics. SKF’s advanced manufacturing techniques and material science ensure superior performance, durability, and adaptability across industries.
